The Director will be responsible for leading account planning, organizing the work and resources, and driving strategy and implementation of branding and communications programs on behalf of Verge clients. Client Service / Strategy

  • Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to existing and prospective C-suite level clients in biotech/life science industry

SCIENCE ANALYST >

SCIENCE ANALYST

In collaboration with our Client Services team, our Science Analysts help translate complex science into compelling narratives, shaping the stories that will build value for our clients and help them advance their missions. The Science Analyst partners with our clients and Verge team members to guide the scientific strategy and content underlying all relevant deliverables while ensuring seamless execution of project workflow and timelines.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences a plus (PharmD, PhD)
  • Geniune passion for healthcare and client service; innate curiosity about science, technology and the world around you; growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning
  • Excellent written and professional interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects with a high attention to detail
  • Highly collaborative and innovative in partnership with Verge team, clients, vendors, and other business partners
  • Values teamwork and making an impact to ensure work is executed in its completeness and within the defined expectations
  • Fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, shows confidence and proactive action to take on and own unfamiliar tasks

Science Analyst

  • 3+ years of experience in science or healthcare communications; agency experience preferred
  • Experience with media relations, content marketing, digital strategy, design, advertising, qualitative/quantitative research
  • Experience developing and managing client relationships
  • Strong research skills and ability to utilize research to make recommendations

Senior Science Analyst

  • 6+ years of science communications and/or medical writing experience, preferably in an agency environment (pharmaceutical marketing, medical communications, PR etc.)
  • Ability to provide ongoing, strategic counsel to clients
  • Demonstrated experience with: media relations, content marketing, digital strategy, design, advertising, qualitative/quantitative research
  • Experience with new business process: conducting research, developing tactical recommendations, and using creative skills to craft compelling presentations to deliver our message to potential clients
  • Ability to support development of proposals and tracking of budgets as needed
  • Understanding and management of the billing process and activity reports as needed

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategist

  • Keep a pulse on emerging trends in breakthrough science, diseases, treatment modalities, health issues and more
    • Extract insights from ongoing research around relevant peer-reviewed literature landscape and news coverage to inform science strategy and identify opportunities for Verge team and clients
  • Stay informed of competitor science to shape strategic communications direction and storytelling approach/nuances
  • Oversee scientific research and media monitoring efforts conducted by junior staff providing guidance on scientific insights and opportunities for Verge team and clients
  • Prepare science briefs and onboard new team members to clients’ science
  • Interpret and translate preclinical and clinical research in a clear and understandable way for a variety of audiences
  • Develop relationships with key client science/medical contacts to expand relationships with and resources for clients
  • Participate in new business calls as appropriate to help evaluate new client opportunities/science
  • Identify opportunities to lead staff education efforts to advance scientific understanding across the firm

Content Creator

  • Write or edit complex content, media materials and other deliverables (messaging, web copy, presentations, white papers, blog articles, digital and social media content; client results reports); oversee quality control, editing, and proofing process
  • For new client engagements, lead discovery phase of work with clients, conduct brandscape analysis, develop narratives and corporate decks, draft website copy
  • Serve as a creative liaison by providing clear and scientifically accurate instructions to creative department, developers, and medical illustrators to bring new ways of thinking for showcasing and elevating client work visually
  • Leverage scientific knowledge to contribute to media strategies, pitch angles, and press announcements

Project Manager

  • Demonstrate consistent, thoughtful execution and oversight of deliverables by managing projects from start to finish, develop timelines, ensure deliverables are completed on time
  • Partner with client services team to lead clients through progression of the work through call recaps, timelines, communication on next steps
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to execute projects
  • Serve as client day-to-day contact when appropriate
